About the role

FlySafair is a South African airline operated by Safair Operations. The airline is recruiting First Officers for its flight deck crew at bases in Johannesburg, Durban, Lanseria and Cape Town.

This opportunity is suited to pilots with multi-crew experience who meet South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) licensing and flight-hour requirements. Candidates will support the Captain in the safe and efficient operation of commercial flights while maintaining high standards of professionalism, regulatory compliance and passenger service.

FlySafair is seeking qualified First Officers to join its Flight Deck Crew. Reporting to the Fleet Captain, successful candidates will assist with flight preparation, aircraft operation, navigation, crew coordination and post-flight procedures.

First Officers must maintain situational awareness, monitor aircraft systems and flight progress, follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and support the Captain throughout all phases of flight. In the event that the Captain becomes incapacitated, the First Officer must be prepared to assume command.

Requirements

• SACAA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) – preferred.
• Valid SACAA Class 1 Medical Certificate – essential.
• Minimum 1,500 flight hours, including at least 500 hours of multi-engine turbine time.
• Multi-crew experience – essential.
• Boeing type rating – advantageous.
• Experience on commercial jets exceeding 20 tonnes – advantageous.
• Detailed knowledge of SACAA, ICAO and applicable national aviation regulations.
• Knowledge of ICAO Doc 8186 – essential.
• Knowledge of commercial and airline transport pilot licensing requirements.
• South African citizenship, with proof of identity.
• Valid South African passport.
• Valid South African driver's licence and own transport.
• No criminal record.
• Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
• Willingness to sign applicable training bonds.
• Ability to work irregular hours according to a roster.
