It spans national flag carriers, low-cost and regional operators, and a substantial cargo and charter sector, with the largest crew bases in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Which pilot licence do employers in the CIS require?

Licences are issued by each state's own civil aviation authority, among them Rosaviatsiya in Russia and the aviation administrations of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Operators generally accept an ICAO-compliant ATPL(A) and arrange a local validation or conversion after selection; requirements differ considerably between states, so check the individual listing.
